Technical notes
Client component: value holds the applied value, and pending the one proposed but not yet confirmed. The select always shows pending ?? value, so visually it reacts to the choice at once rather than only after confirmation. A change in the select calls handleSelectChange: if the new value equals value, the panel does not open; otherwise it goes into pending and a panel with role="alertdialog" is drawn. useEffect moves focus to the "Confirm" button when pending appears. confirm() moves pending into value and returns focus to the select, while cancel() and Escape in handleKeyDown discard pending without changing value. The palette lives in --vibeui-select-032-*.
