Hotkey Open

A combobox that opens with a global hotkey: the shortcut hint is printed right on the trigger button, and the listener skips typing inside someone else's text field.

The install command lives in the “Component source” block below — a signed link that stays valid for 24 hours.

Technical notes

The component is self-contained: one file, no dependencies, its own --vibeui-combobox-028-* palette. Client component: a useEffect subscribes to document keydown and catches Ctrl or Cmd together with triggerKey; before it fires there is a check for whether focus is inside someone else's input, textarea or contenteditable — otherwise the shortcut would intercept typing in any third-party form on the page. A second useEffect moves focus into the filter field on opening, exactly as in the base variant with a trigger button. The shortcut hint sits in a <kbd> inside the trigger button itself — it is not hidden in a tooltip and does not require hovering. Escape closes the panel and returns focus to the button from anywhere, including the case where the panel was opened with the hotkey.
