Notify Subscribe

A notification subscription switch: it uses role="switch" rather than aria-pressed, because subscribing is a setting for later, and the request keeps the old state until it answers.

What you can change

  • the switch caption through label
  • the request duration through delay — replace the timer with fetch in real code
  • the initial state through defaultPressed

For developers

The install command lives in the “Component source” block below — a signed link that stays valid for 24 hours.

Technical notes

One file, zero dependencies, the --vibeui-toggle-012-* palette. Client-side: useState, useRef and useEffect to clear the timer on unmount (setTimeout stands in for a server request). The switch is declared role="switch" with aria-checked rather than aria-pressed: subscribing to notifications is a mode set for later, not an immediate action on an object. Until the server answers the state does not change, the button is marked aria-busy, and the thumb shows a spinner instead of sliding. The role="status" line beside it names the outcome in words.
