Segmented Percent Dial

A percentage dial built from individual tick segments, like a measuring instrument rather than a smooth arc fill — a deliberate alternative to conic-gradient.

What you can change

  • the share through value from 0 to 100
  • the action caption through label
  • the tick count through segments

Technical notes

A server component, there are no hooks. Unlike the ring built on a conic-gradient, the dial here is assembled from separate ticks: each is a short bar rotated to its own angle through a transform-origin at the centre of the circle and an inline rotate() style computed in the component. The number of filled ticks is derived from the value share. The number lies above the dial as a node of its own. The value is clamped to 0–100 and declared through role="progressbar" with aria-valuenow, valuemin and valuemax. The figures are tabular so the caption does not jitter on update. The theme comes from the surrounding color-scheme through light-dark(): the component has no background by default — it sits on the page background and darkens with it, while the background prop switches on a panel.
